Dance Church

In March, 2008, Louise Runyon Performance Company initiated a community improvisational dance gathering known as “Dance Church.” This monthly event is inspired by “Dance Church” in Santa Cruz, California, where a core group of 75 people have gathered weekly since 2002 to dance to music in a space made sacred by an improvised, community altar.
Our Atlanta event has attracted dancers of all ages and backgrounds. If you are a dancer but don’t get enough opportunity to dance; if one of the ways you find a spiritual connection is through movement; if you want to join with others in spiritual community and are looking for different ways to do that—come to Dance Church!
…and please help us spread the word about:

A Community Spiritual Dance Gathering

“Dance Church”

A Spiritual but Non-Religious Event

Second Sunday of Every Month

10:30 AM - Noon / $5 Suggested Donation

Decatur School of Ballet
102 Church Street
Decatur, Georgia 30030
(At the corner of Church St. and E. Howard Avenue, just across the railroad tracks from Agnes Scott College.)
“Dance Church” is a diverse gathering to honor the body/spirit connection, celebrate life, and build community through improvisational movement, artistic expression, and an openness to the sacred however defined.
Do your yoga, stretch, roll around on the floor, boogie; dance alone, with another, with others; connect with your own spirit and that of whatever may be greater. A circle will begin and end the gathering and a variety of music will be played.
